My Sarah Palin mother of all nightmares!
My Sarah Palin mother of all nightmares! It\'s 2010 and President John McCain is now 74. He has just suffered a fatal heart attack. BuzzArticleSummary = 'It\'s 2010 and President John McCain is now 74. He has just suffered a fatal heart attack. Front and center, no level or amount of prior “experience” doing anything can prepare someone for the job of President of the United States. That is, unless, like Theodore Roosevelt, that person had previously been President of the United States. And even then, the dynamics of minute-by-minute international and domestic and economic and meteorological changes make the job a new one every day. But some experience is clearly superior to other experience. My worst out-of-body terror, that John McCain gets elected president, has suddenly been replaced by one even more terrifying to imagine: Something happens to the 72-year-old, cancer surviving McCain and Vice-President Palin assumes control of the mighty array of executive levers. ...

Glossary of National Hurricane Center Terms
Home · Local · U.S. Mr. Advisory: Official information issued by tropical cyclone warning centers describing all tropical cyclone watches and warnings in effect along with details concerning tropical cyclone locations, intensity and movement, and precautions that should be taken. Best Track: A subjectively-smoothed representation of a tropical cyclone's location and intensity over its lifetime. The best track contains the cyclone's latitude, longitude, maximum sustained surface winds, and minimum sea-level pressure at 6-hourly intervals. Best track positions and intensities, which are based on a post-storm assessment of all available data, may differ from values contained in storm advisories. They also generally will not reflect the erratic motion implied by connecting individual center fix positions. Center: Generally speaking, the vertical axis of a tropical cyclone, usually defined by the location of minimum wind or min...

Star-sign language
I never read my horoscope before I get on a plane. If you count the words in the preceding sentence, you'll notice they total 17. Seventeen is today's lucky number. Also, I'm typing in yellow. You can't tell, because the words on this page are printed in black and white. A pity. I removed a pair of yellow rubber gloves just to type this sentence. "Spring clean your life," today's horoscope said. I like the "non" bit of that sentence. It's irreverently brainy. Like an Aquarian. I'm an Aquarian. Statistically, Aquarians make up 12% of the population. I was a bit stuck about what to write next. My editor suggested I try to be more grounded. Also, that I should attend a remedial maths course. She must be a Taurus. I hate Taureans. Anyway, my point: Why don't people take astrology more seriously? Like, yesterday, my horoscope asked me if it was possible there might be some good things to come out of the recent changes and revelations I've been going through. I nearly cried. Why don't ...

White Sox win, avoid sweep by Indians
Time to dream: A 2-0 start for Bears? Sure. And exactly how much the Sox needed it was evidenced by manager Ozzie Guillen’s using Bobby Jenks for a five-out save. Guillen said he doesn’t like to do that, but he gambled because it was a “must-win’’ game. I’m not doubting the “must-win’’ part. It just seems funny to hear a manager call it a “must-win’’ when his lineup included Josh Fields, Toby Hall and Brian Anderson instead of Jim Thome, A.J. Pierzynski and Carlos Quentin. The absence of Quentin, however, is becoming bigger. Whatever is going on in his right forearm does not seem to be going away. But it also might be a big opportunity, not just for the subs who get shuttled in and out of the lineup, but for the approach of the manager. Guillen will have to ask his so-called softball team to play more baseball. Maybe a lot of those hitters can do it and just haven’t been asked to. It seems like we will find out now.
