Florida Real Estate

Nov. 18, 2005 - OPEN AND SHUTTER

Many Floridians are installing impact-resistant glass or shutters to protect against
damage caused by hurricane-driven debris. These measures are required in Miami-Dade County, but homeowners in areas without such mandates are requesting shutters too because they also guard against water infiltration. To comply with hurricane codes, shutters must be made out of fiberglass, wood-composite material, aluminum or other metals. Many look like traditional wood shutters but are strong enough to survive hurricane-force winds.
