Nov. 18, 2005 - CATASTROPHE FUND

Groups have lined up to advocate for the creation of a national catastrophe fund, and yesterday, Florida congressional members Ginny Brown-Waite (R-Brooksville) and Clay Shaw (R-Fort Lauderdale) introduced federal legislation. If it becomes law, the fund would offer federally-backed coverage for catastrophes, such as hurricanes, similar to the way the government now backs flood insurance.
