Florida officials are poised to spend $350 million to buy roughly 115 square miles of undeveloped land in Southwest Florida, home to endangered panthers, bears and
red-cockaded woodpeckers. But some people fear the deal's price tag could strain the state's Florida Forever land-conservation program and jeopardize other purchases.
