Tara and the City

It has been about a month and week since I started working in the city.  For a girl orginally from the farm lands to be commuting to Philadelphia everyday is very different.  I can't say that I actually enjoy it,but I can say that is it different.  First I want to talk about my train.  Before this new job I have I never took the train before in my life.  So you can imagine how nervous I felt the first day I had to take it alone.  The people on the train all look the same with their black jackets, briefcases, coffees and daily metro papers.  No one speaks a word but they just goes through the motions of going to work.  I felt really out of place, I even gave the guy who sat down next to me a nice bright sunny hello and all he did was look at me funny and nod his head.  I guess you could say I was the youngest person on the train minus the noisy excited little kids that were going with dad to work that day. I just hoped that I was the only person who noticed.  No one spoke a word the whole ride, only a few coughs and sneeze was heard.  As I starred out the window I watched the suburbs start to change drastically.  As the train progressed the neighborhoods got worse and worse.  I felt guilty for starring but I really hadn't ever scene these type of houses that were rotting away with no windows, barely livable up close. Everyone else just kept reading their papers not even giving it a second glance.  People got on, people got off.  My stop finally came, suburban station.  The busy rush of people(still silent I add) hurrying up the stairs with their noisy high heels and dress shoes.  The station smelled like coffee, burnt bagels and homeless men.  The line for Dunkin Dounuts stretched all the way into the crowd of walking people.  You could see in their eyes the caffeene withdrawl.  What an experience! I am sure their will be plenty more! Gotta love the city of brotherly love aka Philadelphia!

for a girl from the farmlands.. everything that has to do with the city must be an interesting experience. peeps on the trains act the same wherever u live. the only exception i think is in europe where they tend to be curious if they know that u are a foreigner. i don't know how i've been missing your blogs but reading the comments that u left me made me interested in finding out the kind of person that you are. i think u are really funny just by reading this first entry so am gonna roll up my sleeves and get ready to read them all and leave as many comments as i can. before i start i better get a pop first cause i think this is gonna be taking me some time to finish. lolz
