Mark Whelpton of Grand Prairie Alberta Named as Safe Communities ...

Safe Communities Canada announced today that Mark Whelpton of Grande Prairie Alberta, was named as the 2008 recipient of its National Ambassador for Safety Volunteer Award. The Ambassador for Safety Volunteer Award recognizes an individual citizen within the network of Canadian designated safe communities that has made a significant contribution to promoting a culture of safety and reducing the risk of injury. Local recipients are named within the network and a national award recipient is selected from among the local award recipients. We have known for a long time that it is due to the involvement of individuals, either on their own accord, or as part of a corporate culture, that change occurs, communities thrive and lives are saved."
