More than 1000 working skiers from downunder are employed in the 3500 workforce at Whistler Blackcomb and the word among the locals is that they have an unbeatable reputation for being so reliable they turn up for work on time after the heaviest night of partying. Transfer the buzz in Beijing at the moment to Vancouver and Whistler in 2010. The city and nearby ski town have adopted the characteristic Canadian can-do attitude and prepared, so far, an impressive Olympic plan. I have been to seven Olympic Games and my favourite assignment of all is the winter version. I can't wait for the 2010 Games, and this is why: there is fabulous white snow covering every peak, making a sparkling backdrop; there is an intimacy to the competition; and everyone is smiling.
