Jul. 20, 2008 - MMA Spotlight 7.10.08: Weighing Your Options

Is going up in weight a good idea for a fighter? Recent news has announced that fighters like Anderson Silva, Rich Franklin, and B.J. Penn are all going up in weight in the near future. The trouble with problem employees is that they started out as the star in the team, the sparkle in the manager's eye. This status could have been conferred by a...

Jul. 20, 2008 - IIHF suspends Radulov and five others

The Alexander Radulov saga took a twist with the IIHF suspending Radulov along with five others while it investigates their transfer between the NHL and KHL. Along with Radulov, the IIHF suspended Nikita Filatov, Thomas Mojzis, Jason Krog, Fedor Fedorov and Viktor Tikhonov. Filatov's former club, writes Aaron Portzline, claims that Filatov owes it up to $1.5 million in transfer fees. The Blue Jackets deny that claim, because, hey, Filatov turned in his 30-day notice. “We hope that this can be resolved amicably and in a timely manner,” said IIHF President René Fasel in a statement released by the IIHF. “It is unfortunate that we are already facing such difficulties after the progress that was made last week. I am hoping that all sides can come to a solution.” What does this mean? While the investigation is going on, those six players will be suspended from international transfers and all international competition. According to Russian paper Sport Express, Radulov returned from a vi...
