I Have a Tendency to Make Myself Laugh

Thankful

Today is one of those days where I am so blessed and so thankful to be a daughter of the King. So often we take for granted our relationships; whether it be with our family, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend or even God. I pray for protection and safety all the time, now more out of habit than actual sincerity, it’s not until something happens that I am reminded of why I pray these prayers.

This morning I slept in a bit (because I took a shower before choir the night before). I had a great evening the night before, God showed up in our choir rehearsal and we got quite a bit accomplished. Afterward I was driving home when I found myself getting off the wrong exit. Now if I were to hear this story I would slap a big YEAH RIGHT on it… but this is the truth. I got off at the Northgate exit (without realizing it), and once I noticed that I had got off 6 exits too early I decided that I would get some French fries at McDonald’s because I was hungry. It turned out that I showed up at McDonald’s right when Vincent was getting off work at the Starbucks next door. So we ate together and hung out for a bit, before I finally went home. So without planning it I had a pretty busy night last night. So that’s why I decided to sleep in. Once it was apparent to me that I couldn’t put off getting ready any longer I got up and started to get to it. My hair actually made a nice ponytail today (mainly because I’m retraining my bangs and they are laying nicely now). I picked out an outfit, got dressed, did my make up and headed out the door.

This is when I realized how affective my prayers had been. As I reached my car I noticed that both cars on either side of mine had been broken into. Their windows were smashed, their stereos were ripped out and it was apparent that the vehicle had been ransacked for valuables. Little did they know that the car in between those too had a purse in it with a wallet full of cash, a subwoofer in the trunk, about 40 CDs, an amazing stereo system and a really cute outfit. It’s moments like these that make me glad I’m a child of the King. Even the material things that really don’t matter too much are still protected by His power. Now you may think it was coincidence that my car was passed over but I call it God.

Then on my way into work I had a delightful text message conversation with someone whom I love very much. Today I’m just extra thankful. I love it when God shows you all the things He’s given you. I would encourage each and every one of you to look at your life. Though everything may not be the way that you think it should be, God’s got a blessing hiding in there somewhere. Maybe you have great friends, a great job, a car that runs… there are endless blessings in our lives. Now would be a great time to stop and thank God for them! Linz
