I Have a Tendency to Make Myself Laugh | |
Well Done DragonWell hello there faithful readers. I’m sorry I didn’t post yesterday… actually I’m not sorry. I had absolutely nothing to say. Not only would writing a whole lot of nothing be a waste of my time but yours as well. Today, however, I will attempt to write something that hopefully will be worth both your time as well as mine. My cold in nearly all gone! I probably would have kicked it out last night if I would have received more sleep. That I can only blame on me… and Harry Potter… but we’ll get there. All I have now is a cough. It’s a bit deeper than it was yesterday which is bad. But it’s less frequent now, which is good. I’m not sure which is better. I’m just going to stick with the whole I’m getting better theory. It’s funny what being under the weather brings out in you. Well not you you but me you. I try to ignore it like, “no I’m not getting sick”. Then I crash which hopefully is only for a day. Then I force myself to go on like I’m 100% when I’m really 50%. Today I am around 87.3%, which is a huge comeback from the 50% I was on Wednesday. My only concern is that I will be rough for Sunday, but I intend on taking it easy (well only as easy as you know I can go) and getting back to 100% by tomorrow. I’m really excited for my date with my morethanaboyfriend tonight. When we were trying to figure out what to do I got tired of thinking and just said, “Surprise me”. For those of you who really know Vincent you know that… well tonight should be fun. So yeah that was my today. Well my today thus far. Really the party went down last night! Oh yeah… I’m a dork. So the sixth Harry Potter movie is officially out today; and who do you think saw it last night at midnight? Oh yeah… this girl. And to be honest I have a lot to say about it. Good and bad. I do, however, for the sake of those who haven’t seen it and plan too suggest you stop reading here. While there aren’t any specific spoilers (especially if you read the book… cuz you know how it ends) some people ((cough mom cough)) may not want to know my opinion quite yet. So if that is you… STOP READING NOW!
So Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Let me start by saying that this is my favorite book so far in the series. It’s a little more mature and a lot more suspenseful while still centered on the selfless love and sacrifice that made the early books so good. Now I understand that this book is long and to get it all in a movie would… well it would take a really long time. I have a problem with some of the liberties they too in this one. I felt so rushed when I watched it. We were literally 5 minutes into the movie and we were already well into chapter 7. I guess I should really get over that though. The movie was already 2.5 hours. The pace wasn’t the only thing that bothered me. To be honest some of the new casting was simply horrible. For those of you who don’t know, the man who played Dumbledore in movies 1-3 passed away and they had to recast him. I was completely disappointed by their choice. The man looked the part but he really read Dumbledore all wrong. For those of you who know the books you will understand how I feel. This Dumbledore yelled a lot and acted in anger. Now this could have been the director’s fault, but hands down Dumbledore was all-wrong. I could go on and on about it. Hopefully when Ms. Julie gets a chance to watch it we will go for broke trying to dissect every line in hopes of seeing how they thought that angry Dumbledore was right. I also didn’t like how they made Mad Eye Moody. He was just… he didn’t look like I thought he should look. But I don’t really care to dwell on the negative much longer. Will I buy this movie? Not for myself. In fact the only way that I would purchase it was if for some reason I wanted to own all the movies. At this point I have no desire too. The books are so much better. Really, the best part of going to the premiere was to see all the people dressed up. It used to be just children who dressed in their crazy clothes. But now these children are teenagers. Then you know you always have the one crazy dude in his 40s who will come in the full school uniform. You just look at him and think, “Really, you left the house like this and you think this is okay?” It is one thing when a child dresses up. It’s even another when it’s a teenager. But when you are a grown man and you are going to the Harry Potter premiere, dressed like Harry Potter and without a Hermione Granger by your side. Something is just desperately wrong with that. However, man with the round thin-rimed glasses, you did make me laugh so hard that I choked on my water; and for that I thank you. Linz
