| yesterday i was goofing off online and came across an article about the "killing fields" of cambodia. the khmer rouge thoroughly documented their victims prior to executing them. seeing the faces of the victims touched me in a way i never would have imagined. u could tell how frightened they were by the looks in their eyes. they looked like ordinary people. not soldiers. not troublemakers. just common people who were rounded up because they were educated, a member of the former regime, or related to any of the above. whole families were rounded up to prevent fear of retaliation down the line. women, children, babies. some of the methods used to kill children was like reading something out of the middle ages. to save bullets, children's heads were slammed against a tree. babies were thrown onto bayonnets. adults were killed by bamboo spikes penetrating their skulls, bludgeoned using logs, or gardening hoes. once murdered, they were dumped into mass graves containing hundreds of bodies in each pit. it was estimated that up to 2 million people were killed during the 3 year reign of the khmer rouge from 1976 - 1979. that wasnt such a long time ago. how could such a thing ever been permitted by the world? the topic of genocide has always fascinated me because i can't imagine how a people can kill their own countrymen on such a wide scale. serbia, bosnia, yugoslavia, even now in iraq where u have muslims killing other innocent muslims with suicide bombings. just yesterday terrorists in iraq abducted 24 passengers on a bus, bound them, then shot each in the head. they werent killed because they were soldiers, just innocent people living everyday lives. sigh... so much madness in this world. when will it ever end? | ||

| we are living in the world when everything is possible, where people kill each other just because of their stupid national ideas - it is really scary to live now, you can never know what is awaiting for you tomorrow, next week, next month, next year... just because someone decided you are not like them you can be killed. sometimes i really hate this world, but on the other hand we can see a lot of warmth, tenderness, love, peace, kindness in this world. and even when this stupid madness never ends we should give each other all possible love and warmth, may be then we will be able to forget about the world madness for some time...
i miss u a lot and hope your day will be much more positive than your thoughts today. love you and hope to talk to you soon

| it never fails to take us by surprise, just like what you have said when you are just goofing around reading stuff you stumble into these madness.
At that same place, today, children as young as 7 years old are being sold to be sexually abused by foreign sex predators by their own mother, sister and relatives. just like what's happening in the similar places where people are very poor and had found themselves with no other choice, it gives you so much anger and frustration that you don't know where to turn to. then it makes you doubt, that maybe this mad world deserves this social holocaust. it's sad but it is more madness to just sit by the sidelines and watch it happening in front of our eyes. to be able to write this entry is to help people be aware of what's the truth beyond the comfort of their nice little worlds. -karen

| What else can you expect from communists? Nothing else than misery and suffering (Hopefully you've known that 'rouge' means red.)
Why doesn't the world stop that? It is not their business, or rather there is no business in it. The USA helps countries where they have some profit, or oil, like in Iraq, or if it's favourite country, which the USA supports financially (Israel) does anything, that the whole world condemns or disapproves of, Israel can even start a completely unjust war against Lebanon because of two TWO (!) Israeli soldiers, they can even start a world war, because they can do it with the support of the US ! Because the US is also the champion of unjust wars: eg the one against Iraq ! I don't know which are worse, the communist a..holes or the capitalist a..holes...

| so i guess what you stressing is the world = usa..
so USA controls everything and so we cannot do anything about it? Something or in this case, A Power, is only Invincible when we name is as such. The helplessness and anger doesn't take any vision anywhere, it just takes away the focus for issues that are really pressing. I don't have to care about what the gov't of USA does.it's their call. their actions and their consequences to face. And i guess that equals that we have our own moves to make, amends to do and help to extend. What we must focus on is awareness and education. Do you think those under a communist regime know of other life than what they grew up with? We must give people the choices that are due to them, so that they would know that they are free to decide their own fate. And about capitalism? it's not a conspiracy of the few, it's a conspiracy of the world. you take a moment and audit every activity you do everyday, and you'll see that capitalism is being fed by us every single minute. -karen
